The lecture deals with the general framework, impact factors and methods for planning, handling, and controlling of IT projects. Especially following topics are addressed:

  • project environment
  • project organisation
  • project planning including the following items:
    • plan of the project structure
    • flow chart
    • project schedule
    • plan of resources
  • effort estimation
  • project infrastructur
  • project controlling
  • risk management
  • feasibility studies
  • decision processes, conduct of negotiations, time management.

Learning objectives:

Students

  • explain the terminology of IT project management and typical used methods for planning, handling and controlling,
  • apply methods appropiate to current project phases and project contexts,
  • consider organisational and social impact factors.
