Curriculum Vitae

Benjamin Berens (born Reinheimer) is a doctoral researcher in the SECUSO Research Group of Prof. Dr Melanie Volkamer since May 2017. Before joining the KIT, he was a doctoral researcher in the SECUSO Research Group at the Technische Universität Darmstadt, where he was part of CRISPExternal Link(former CASED). Prof. Dr Melanie Volkamer supervises his current doctoral program. In the past, he finished his Business Psychology Bachelor program at the University of Applied Science Fresenius and graduated from the Technische Universität Darmstadt with a Master's degree in Psychology. Prof. Dr Melanie Volkamer supervised his master thesis on the evaluation and further development of the TORPEDO thunderbird Add-On. From 1st Mai 2017 until the end of the project (April 2020) he was involved in the EU project GHOST which aims to develop an user-centred solution for controlling privacy in smart home environments. From October 2018 until December 2020 he was part of the KASTEL project SKI (Sicherheit kritischer Infrastrukturen: Von der Nachvollziehbarkeit zur Messbarkeit). The overall goal of his work is to look at the status quo of security policies, awareness-raising and training activities and develop improved new strategies and tools based on the newest research.
