Background:

The role of IT certificates and standards in organisational practices comprises areas auch as drivers for adopting IT certificates and standards; for one thing, benefits gained after implementation, then again the problems witnessed during implementation; IT certificates’ and standards’ impact on firm performance. IT certificates and standards as well as their role in organisational practices have already been studied in different contexts. What has been missing until now is a comparison of drivers, benefits, barriers, etc. across different contexts in order to show how adoption and implementation is different in different contexts.

Objective(s):

The objective of this thesis is to conduct a literature review in one of the following areas:

  • drivers for adopting IT certificates and standards,
  • benefits and barriers in implementing IT certificates and standards,
  • IT certificates and standards as well as their impact on organisational performance.
