Former: Department leader at FZI

Research group: Efficient Algorithms



Dr.-Ing. Manuel Lösch was head of a research department on IT-based solutions for the energy system of the future at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology, until 2023.

The focus of his energy informatics research department was on the development of intelligent energy management systems for buildings, districts, and e-mobility. In addition, he was responsible for the FZI Living Lab smartEnergy, a platform for the practical implementation of the newest technologies and concepts for the energy transition, together with partners from industry and science.

Manuel Lösch earned his doctoral degree in energy informatics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology with highest honors. His work at the intersection of computer science and energy economics focused on the flexibilization of electricity consumption. This enables realizing economic benefits and stabilizing power grids that are increasingly characterized by renewable energies.

He holds a master's degree in business informatics from the University of Mannheim and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences.
