|Abstract=Integrating relational databases is recently acknowledged as an important vision of the Semantic Web research, however there is not many applications that are well-implemented and in large-scale real use. This paper introduces an in-use application deployed at China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CATCM). In this application, over 70 heterogeneous relational databases are semantically interconnected by an shared ontology with over 70 classes and 800 properties, providing semantic query and web search services to the Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) community like one huge database. A visualized mapping tool is developed to facilitate domain experts in defining semantic mappings from heterogeneous relational schemas to the shared ontology. The query interface is dynamically generated based on class definitions, and able to rewrite SPARQL queries to a set of SQL queries. An intuitive search interface enables user to get more accurate and reliable search results based on a concepts ranking mechanism. Feedbacks and evaluation results from CATCM indicate that they are mostly satisfied with this novel Semantic Web technologies enabled application.

Kurzfassung
Integrating relational databases is recently acknowledged as an important vision of the Semantic Web research, however there is not many applications that are well-implemented and in large-scale real use.
