EIT ICT Labs ist einer der ersten drei Cluster für Innovationen und Wissensaustausch (KICs), welcher vom Europäischen Institut für Innovation und Technologie (EIT) zur Steigerung der Innovationskraft in Europa ausgewählt wurde. Das neu gegründete EIT ist eine Institution zur Beseitigung des Innovationsstaus in Europa. Durch die Förderung weltweit führender Innovationen soll nachhaltiges Wachstums und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit in Europa erreicht werden. Ab dem Jahr 2014 gehören die EIT ICT Labs zu Horizon 2020, dem neuen Rahmenprogramm für Forschung und Innovation.
Das KIT hat den Status Affiliate Partner und ist dem deutschen Knoten in Berlin zugeordnet.
